Mental Health First Aid Refresher and Supervisory Programme
Whilst Mental Health First Aiders are supporting your employees, who is supporting the Mental Health First Aiders?
Comprising of two phases our unique Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) Refresher and Supervisory programme ensures they keep their skills fresh whilst receiving guidance and support from our experts.
Investing in the MHFA Refresher & Supervisory course will keep your MHFA’s motivated, empowered, and confident to carry out their roles, and give you the peace of mind that they can perform their duties effectively.
Phase One: Mental Health First Aider Refresher
An in-person, 4 hour session delivered by a qualified MHFA England instructor. Enabling your Mental Health First Aiders to refresh their skills, the same way your physical first aiders do, is a great way to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to treating mental health and physical health equally.
Once your Mental Health First Aiders have completed their MHFA Refresher course, they will be certified for three years and will be invited to become or stay a member of our Association of Mental Health First Aiders – making sure they have everything they need to feel confident when supporting others.
The four-hour MHFA Refresher course will support your Mental Health First Aiders by:
- Renewing their skills
- Updating their knowledge of mental health support
- Giving them the chance to practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
Learners will gain an understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma.
They will gain a basic knowledge of some common mental health issues and develop confidence to support someone in distress who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
Phase Two: Mental Health Monthly Supervisory Calls
Extended beyond the MHFA England training, we introduce the Thought Bubbles supervisory programme. These monthly online calls, facilitated by our MHFA Instructor, will provide a safe space for mental health first aiders to discuss any challenges they are facing or difficult conversations they have had. These sessions are designed to offer ongoing support and guidance to mental health first aiders in their roles. During the calls, the trainer will share the latest themes in wellbeing support, updates or changes to the Equality Act, and provide resources and guidance, such as information about relevant charities and support services. This will further enhance their knowledge and ability to support colleagues effectively.
